Extreme Performance Testing Center

Investigation of Extreme Structural Behavior in Civil and Architectural Engineering Using Cutting-edge Research Equipment

The Extreme Performance Testing Center at Seoul National University is a large-scale experimental facility capable of simulating extreme loads and environments—such as impacts, explosions, and cryogenic temperatures—that may arise due to human or natural factors. This enables the evaluation of the behavior and performance of civil and architectural structures.

Through this research infrastructure, which allows for verification of the structural stability of facilities under disasters and hazardous conditions, we aim to secure international research competitiveness in the field of extreme engineering. Our goal is to produce world-class research outcomes and foster highly skilled professionals.

By utilizing the world’s most advanced research equipment housed at the Extreme Performance Testing Center, we expect to contribute to the development of new materials for enhancing structural performance under extreme conditions, the establishment of analytical theories and design standards, and the creation of efficient structural systems.

The Extreme Performance Testing Center is fully committed to supporting technology development and experimental research to achieve these objectives.
